Doodles as subject matter for art

I am quite interested in the process of automatic drawing as a way of arriving at subject matter for paintings and drawings. This approach was popularized by the surrealist movement in the 1920’s. I often produce scribbles on a page and then look into them to see what I can see. It is very much like looking at clouds and seeing faces or forms in them. I can also see imagery in other people’s drawings. If I get interested readers who will send in a sketch or even a doodle I will use it as subject matter for a finished piece of art.
